MoMA Teens in Residence is a paid enrichment program for NYC high school students in grades 10 through 12 that offers a deep dive into the inner workings of an art museum and the broader art world.
Each week, Teen Residents connect with artists and museum professionals, participate in hands-on workshops, and help plan public programs—all while exploring the role of art and museums in their communities. From leading gallery experiences to developing interpretive text and audio, Teen Residents gain real-world experience, build essential skills like communication and creative thinking, and meaningfully support MoMA’s Learning and Engagement initiatives.
The program creates pathways for teens to actively contribute to MoMA—fostering college preparedness, workplace readiness, and career exploration.
- Members must be NYC high school students in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the 2026–27 school year.
- MoMA Teens in Residence meet every Tuesday, 4:30–6:30 p.m., from October 2026 to June 2027, and must be available for additional sessions and programs on other days including weekends.
- Attendance is required and recurrent missed meetings will result in removal from the program.
- Participants should demonstrate a deep interest in learning about art and/or museums. Art-making experience is not required.
- MoMA will provide all materials, snacks, and any other costs associated with participating.
- Upon successful completion of the program, members will receive a stipend of $1,000

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Acceptance Notification: Select applicants will be notified of their invitation to a group interview the week of September 21-25, 2026
